Green Building Credits

The Ace facility regularly recycles in excess of 75% of the debris it receives. This capability, combined with our ability to provide documentation, allows our customers that are trying to build green to get the associated credits.

How do we calculate our recycling rate? Ace follows a mass balance approach for mixed debris. All of the debris we receive is categorized, weighed, and deposited on our tip floor. Our computer system knows exactly how much we take in each day and knows how much of each type of recyclable material and non-recyclables are shipped out. This then produces a daily diversion rate that is then automatically matched to loads of mixed debris from that same day. Loads of segregated materials (i.e. wood only) is simply given the recycling rate we produce for that category of material, which is typically much higher than the rate for mixed debris.

Ace can also contribute to other points. For example, we manufacture our own crushed stone and soil, which can be used in projects and counted towards recycled content and local procurement. These materials are also less expensive than similar virgin materials.

Reporting

At the end of each month, or when a project is complete, we automatically send reports to customers that detail what we received from them, how much was recycled, and into what categories. Some need this information for their projects, while others simply want to know how well they are doing.

Our Own Green Efforts

Ace knows more about green building credits and reporting than most because our facility was built to the same standards our customers are following. Below are some overview pictures of our efforts. Want more detail? Click here to see how we built green!
